3 Benefits of Applying for a Canada Visa in Nigeria
In order to stay in Canada and work or study, you have to get a work or study permit before your arrival in Canada. To be eligible for one of these, you will need to apply for a Canada visa from Nigeria. Although this may seem like an extra step, obtaining one of these visas can open up numerous benefits for you that you would not be able to access otherwise. Here are five benefits of applying for a Canada visa in Nigeria.
HOW TO APPLY FOR A CANADA VISA
When applying for a Canadian visa, it’s important to understand what you need to bring with you. If you’re preparing to apply, find out about all your documents and forms requirements. To avoid delays and long lines at Immigration, start early and allow extra time to get your paperwork in order. The Canada visa application process can be stressful enough on its own—don’t add to it by forgetting key documents! Here are some suggestions: Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months past your return date and that it hasn’t expired or been damaged. In addition, if you’re working abroad or have other ties that might affect your ability to leave Canada upon arrival (such as citizenship), make sure those details are entered into your passport before submitting it.
OBTAINING YOUR IMMIGRATION DOCUMENTS
Before you can apply for a visa, you need to obtain documentation from your home country. You’ll need to gather copies of your birth certificate and other documents proving that you are eligible to live and work in Canada. Certain documents must be obtained from government authorities, including your criminal record check (CRC), which is used by immigration officers at ports-of-entry when considering an application to enter Canada. Some immigration documents must be issued by specific bodies, such as a duly authorized provincial or territorial vital statistics agency or passport office. In some cases, you will be required to obtain confirmation directly from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that your document has been received before proceeding with an application. The documentation requirements are outlined on IRCC’s Document Checklist webpage.
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION ARRANGEMENTS
Once you have applied for your visa, you will need to make travel and accommodation arrangements. You can do so by contacting one of Canada’s recognized service providers or a private travel agent. Your visa office will be able to provide you with names and contact information upon request. To facilitate matters, it is recommended that you apply for your visa at least 60 days before your travel date. 5 Tips For Applying For A Canada Visa In Nigeria
Applying for a visa to Canada in Nigeria can be done with very little preparation, provided you know what steps to take and how to do it the right way the first time. Here are 5 tips to help you apply successfully for your Canada Visa in Nigeria.
1) Do your research
Spend time doing research about your visa before applying for it. This way, you will have a better idea of what documents you are expected to provide when applying for it. Taking some time to go over immigration regulations can also help make sure that your application is submitted correctly and will have a greater chance of being accepted. Try to avoid making mistakes on your application that could cause delays or other problems. If possible, get help from someone who has experience with applications of this type, like an immigration lawyer or another person familiar with Canadian immigration law, if you are unsure about any of these requirements.
2) Start preparing early
If you’re applying for a visa from outside of Canada, start preparing your documents early. If you’re thinking about applying for permanent residence in a few years, it’s best to apply as soon as possible, instead of waiting until that just-in-case scenario. Remember that there are three steps involved: you first need to be approved in principle, then get an electronic travel authorization (eTA), and finally receive a valid visa to enter Canada. You can apply for permanent residence after arriving in Canada, but there are some restrictions on how long you can stay and work until then.
3) Prepare passport photographs
When applying for a Canadian visa, it’s best to bring along two or three identical passport photographs. Photographs should be in colour, and be 2 x 2 in size. It is best not to wear hats or dark glasses, as you want your face clearly visible. Have a trusted friend take your photos so that you don’t get a crooked picture. Make sure that no hair gets in front of your eyes, or covers any part of your forehead (think Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality). Pictures need to be taken against a light background and show full head from top of hair to bottom of chin. Passport photograph guidelines have been provided below
4) Ensure you have all the required documents
This is one of the most important things that you should always check. To avoid confusion and delays, always double-check to make sure that you have submitted all relevant documents for a visa application. If there is any document that you are unsure about, it is better to ask before submitting your application than to go through a lengthy process and be forced to resubmit because something was overlooked in your haste. Remember: time is of essence here; every day counts!
5) Go to a visa application centre (VAC) only with everything you need
There is nothing more frustrating than waiting in line for a visa, only to find out that you forgot your birth certificate at home. So if you’re applying for a Canadian visitor visa, ensure that you have all relevant documents in one place. This includes your original passport, supporting document (which contains your information), government-issued ID and a copy of proof of funds. Also note that VACs do not accept passport photocopies or photos of IDs as they will not be accepted by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). To avoid unnecessary delays when going to apply for a Canadian visa in Nigeria, ensure that you have all your materials before hand so you don’t have to make another trip later.
